Our Beers

Jack’s Abby Brewing's goal is to create truly distinctive lagers featuring locally grown ingredients, traditional German brewing standards, and American innovation.

While the craft brewing world is overflowing with ales, Jack's Abby Brewing specializes in lagers. Less breweries produce lagers because the fermentation process takes about three times as long. Lagers have a crisp, clean flavor that can only come from the lagering process. The bottom fermenting yeast of lagers creates a robust beer with a flavor profile that can easily go toe-to-toe with any ale. We think it's worth the wait, and we're sure once you try our handcrafted beers you will agree.

All Jack's Abby lagers are unfiltered and preservative-free. All beers are made with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, including hops from the Hendler farm in Connecticut. Read more about us.

Award Winning

Jack's Abby produces world class, boundary-pushing lagers. We score consistently high ratings from beer critics and enthusiasts at Beer Advocate, RateBeer, and others. We're proud to list some of our awards here.

Hopstitution

Hopstitution

The hardest part about making new and exciting hoppy beers is sourcing the hops you need. Most hops are bought under contracts which are signed two or three years in advance. We occasionally get opportunities to acquire small quantities of specialty hops that are enough for one batch of beer, but no more. This beer allows us to feature hops that we would otherwise not be able to make use of.

Lager Ness Monster

Lager Ness Monster - Imperial Baltic Porter

This lager was brewed to produce an incredibly high original gravity (OG). We utilized a special brewing technique that reuses wort runoff in a second mash. This creates wort with a high amount of fermentable sugars in it (translating to a high OG) . After this process is complete we add even more sugar, which pushes the gravity even further. From there the beer is fermented, then conditioned in bourbon barrels. The result is a lager with a tremendously deep flavor and dark color.
